Choosing Among Single Parent Adoption Countries

By Unknown
If a single parent decides to adopt, being familiar with the various single parent adoption countries is one of the great ways to start. Awareness of these can help a parent avoid wasted time and eventually find a country with policies that best suit the adopting parent.

Furthermore, the average age of children for adoption in a particular country can be checked and correctly matched with the parent. While others are successful in applying for domestic adoption, more people find it easier to go through an international adoption, particularly in certain countries and states.

This is because agencies tend to be stricter for domestic adoption. Aside from this, birth mothers also have the tendency to be more cautious in entrusting their babies to single parents. International adoption though may tend to be more expensive, because of the travel costs involved.

In the USA foster care, the average age of children referred for single parent adoption is 5. Adopting older children has its own pros and cons, depending on the adopting parent and the child. This would mean less difficult time for the child but might mean more time to establish rapport and a close relationship with the child because of his or her attachment with the biological parents.

If a person hopes to get an infant, then chances in the US are a bit slim and it is advisable to adopt from another country instead. Ethnicity of the children can mostly be African American, Caucasian or Hispanic.  In the USA, the adoption system is private.

In this case, the birth parents get to choose the new parents either before or after birth. The same private system applies to Taiwan but people must expect to get older children. Euthopia is a popular option for adopting parents because agencies are systematic and they can release children as young as three to four months old.

Certainly, this is an advantage since it will be much easier for the new parents to develop a bond with the child. Many adopt from Kazakhstan, the former Soviet Republic but it can be costly. Children are mostly Asian, with ages ranging from 18 months to 1 year. As required, adopting parents must stay in Kazakhstan for at least 3 weeks for the first trip.

Similarly, Brazil also requires parents to stay in the country, this time, for a month. Available children for adoption by single parents are usually older than three. Georgia and Armenia have almost similar systems, with reasonable costs. In India, most children for referrals are aged 3 and above and adopting parents with Indian heritage are preferred.

However, the period of processing is quite long. In Mexico, most of the referred children are between the ages of 3 and 5. Based on the recommendation of many people, it is important to find a reputable agency in Mexico because of its more difficult process as compared to other countries.

Studying these comparisons, as well as those countries not mentioned in the article, presents important information that a single person must consider prior to an adoption to reach a sound decision.
